The customer has an ISDN PRI number 5600300 with 30 channels, numbers from 5600300 to 5600329. They have multiple company headquarters located in one building and want to have one primary for 3 companies. Each company has a different IVR answering the call and a dedicated number for fax.
This can be done using the DID pattern on the inbound rules of the Digital trunk, you must configure 3 rules A, B & C like the following:
Rule A = _560030[0-9]
Rule B = _560031[0-9]
Rule C = _560032[0-9]
For each rule, you configure the destination where you want to send the incoming call (for instance the IVRs).
How to create Afterhours IVR to press a button to forward a call to a landline for emergency contact, like pressing a number key during IVR to dial an extension?
- Create a dummy extension.
- Call Forward Unconditionally to *61 (webUI >PBX >Feature Codes >Inbound Mode),
- Change the inbound route destination to IVR
- Dial the dummy extension (or set Key Pressing Events under the IVR settings to dial the dummy extension) to change the route mode.
Can I connect 2 VoIP Trunks over the LAN & WAN port of UCM6XXX?
In some countries, the providers of SIP trunks deliver a private IP for the routing. It is necessary to manage static routes to redirect outgoing calls on their private network or interface. In dual mode, the UCM can handle a different network per port and handle a default interface. LAN and WAN ports are not independent WAN ports. You only can configure 1 SIP provider in the WAN Port and the LAN Port should be for internet connection.
Is it possible to accept incoming calls and fax them to the same number?
Yes you can, you need to enable fax detection under extension settings so the UCM can detect if it’s a call or a fax.
What causes the 403 Forbidden in IP PBX?
It could be:
1. Incorrect credentials in the SIP INVITE
2. International calling is not authorized by most providers to prevent fraud and must be requested by the account owner.
3. The dial strung being sent is not in the format that the provider can accept and process. You need to check with the provider to see how they need to see an international call dial string formatted.
4. The account has not been paid.
How to Send Fax in UCM6XXX?
To send a Fax, you only need to create an FXS port to which the FAX machine is connected. To do so, go to PBX => Create New FXS Extension, then create your FXS extension.
To receive FAX via Email:
Create a Client who will send email to the desired extension by doing the following :
- Settings => Email Settings :
- Type: Client
- Server: smtp.gmail.com:465
- Username: Email address to send the email
- The rest of the config from the user side
- Save
- Click on test to see if there is any email received as the test
Then go to PBX => Internal Option => Fax/T.38 :
- Create a New Fax Extension :
- Extension: Number to call ( make sure to add any prefix if it’s configured on your outbound trunk ) i.e. : 1111
- Name & the Email address to send the email to.
If you are configuring a SIP trunk, make sure to go to Advanced Settings and configure:
- Fax Mode: Fax Detection
- Enable Fax Intelligent Routing: Check it
- Fax Intelligent Routing Destination: f.e 1111
In New Zealand, we have a feature called “Faxibility” or “Distinctive Ring” in which the fax machine can hear different ringtones when a fax comes through and process it. He has an analog line (FXO) coming into the PBX with two numbers/lines on it – one for fax and one for calls. There is a distinctive ring when ringing the two numbers, however, the SIP Endpoints continue to ring and the PBX doesn’t recognize/process the fax. I have tried both Fax Detection and Fax Gateway options on the FXO configuration and created a fax extension with email. I have also set up email settings and tested emails that are being sent.
This can usually be done via the UCM’s Fax Detection feature which will automatically detect if the call is a fax and will send it to a configured email. Try to adjust the TX/RX gain on the FXO trunk and see if increasing or decreasing the value will help the UCM detect the fax signal.
What to do if T.38 is not supported in the VoIP trunk?
- Pass-through mode instead: FXS Port –> Fax Mode.
- Check that the Preferred Vocoder: Choice 1 is set to PCMU
Why does Zero Config not detect the devices?
Avoid using the 192.168.0.0/20 network in the Subnet Whitelist. Try segmenting to several networks, class C (192.168.0.0/24-192.168.1.0/24-192.168.3.0/24, etc), then auto-discovery works.
What are the SD cards compatible with UCM6XXX?
SONY SDHC 32GB 40MBs
Transcend SDXC 64GB 45MBs

How to prevent attenuation in FXO Gateway GXW410X?
- Adjust the SLIC setting under Profile > Audio Settings > Analog Settings
- Adjust the TX and RX gain
- Go to Profiles >Analog Line Settings > Disable Line Echo Canceller is set to “No”.
We have a SIP Trunk destined to ring 3 office phones. Sometimes the staff is away from the desk. Do we have a way to ring 3 office phones and the external number at the same time?
This can be achieved easily by using the Ring Group feature with a simultaneous ring strategy. You can add the external numbers to the LDAP directory, and then select the extensions and external numbers to the ringing group.
How much capacity does a call recording need?
One hour of recording is approximately 25MB so 0.40MB would be equivalent to 1 minute.
How to resolve 407 Proxy Authentication?
407 Proxy Authentication SIP message is a normal authentication challenge. It is sent from the Service Provider to challenge the endpoints. Upon receiving 407 Proxy Authentication, the endpoint sends the second INVITE including the credentials.
To solve this in Grandstream IP Phones, please go to the phone’s Web GUI > ACCOUNT > SIP settings > Custom SIP headers => set “No” to all of these options:
- Use Privacy Header
- Use P-Preferred-Identity Header
- Use X-Grandstream-PBX Header
- Use P-Access-Network-Info Header
- Use P-Emergency-Info Header
- Use MAC Header
Why does the uploaded custom ‘User Busy’ prompt file (under PBX Settings > Call Prompt Tones > General Call Prompt Tones) not play when the users are on a call?
Make sure that the called ‘busy’ users have disabled the Voicemail (Voicemail tab) and Call Waiting (under Extensions > Features)
I keep getting “Fail2ban blocking recovery event! recovered IP address is:” alerts. What does it mean?
These events indicate the listed IP as being banned by the UCM, due to multiple failed registration attempts.
Please review the UCM’s security settings.
I create a video meeting with 5 participants of GXV3480, GXV3380, GXV3450, Wave Android, and Wave Windows.
5 five-video tile screens are shown on Wave Android and Wave Windows, but only self-camera is displayed on the GXV3480, GXV3380, and GXV3450. Why?
Video conference in UCM630X is based on SFU (Selective forwarding unit), which is different from MCU solutions. It means UCM sends multiple video streams to the participant, but the GXV3XXX video phone can only receive and decode one video stream. In this case, UCM only sends the host’s Video stream to the Video phone, thus the video phone can only see a one-way video when only the host joins the meeting and opens the camera, and the presentation will show in the video phone only if the phone supports BFCP.
The customer experiences a call drop when transferring Ring Group to non-members.
Ensure that ‘Endpoint Call Forwarding Support’ is checked under the Ring Group. ‘Endpoint Call Forwarding Support’ works when the extensions configure Call Forward Unconditional, Call Forward No Answer, and Call Forward Busy. We’ve seen the call drop resolve after disabling the ‘NAT’ option under the VoIP Trunk settings.
What does the built-in SBC in CloudUCM do?
The built-in SBC is different from the standard SBC. It only serves Grandstream CloudUCM. Since CloudUCM is in a private network, SBC needs to solve the penetration problem of signaling media and provide basic network attack protection. We can regard SBC and CloudUCM as a whole system, thus the SBC does not have a function list.
