Hunting Group feature in Peer Trunk with Grandstream FXO Gateway HT8x1 and IP PBX UCM63XX

Description

This article describes the steps to configure the PSTN lines in the Hunting Group with HT8X1 and Grandstream IP PBX UCM63XX. We use HT841 in this case.

Steps

1.Configure a Peer Trunk between UCM63XX and HT841 following the steps in the guide

2.Connect PSTN lines to FXO ports of HT841 using RJ11. We use FXO 1 and FXO 2 in this example.

3.Verify the port status and SIP Destination Port in HT841. They will show Idle when the FXO line is not in use.

Figure 1 The Hook status shows Idle when the FXO lines are not in use.

4.Navigate to FXO Ports > FXO 1 > select the correct Profile and set Hunting Group: Active. This means that FXO 1 is the primary line. Configure the rest of the FXO ports to be the members of the Hunting Group. In this example, we set FXO 2 as a member of Hunting Group 1. It is optional to set the CID for the FXO ports under the Unconditional Call Forward to VoIP.

5. Enter the correct SIP Port in the Host Name field at the UCM’s Peer Trunk. The SIP port is the Local SIP Port of HT841’s FXO Profile 1 – the primary FXO port. Please refer to the HT841’s Port Status.

How to Dial

When FXO 1 is busy and engaged, the outbound calls will be routed and go through the next available port – FXO 2 in this scenario.
